He runs himself as 'problem solver in chief' and demands that every direct report be deputized to do the same.
Kalanick told the hosts that a16z should have been an Uber investor — a partnership that never happened and that he believes would have changed the outcome of his turbulent 2017. Now they're finally working together, and he's calling the moment what it is: unfinished business.

Then a16z blinked at dinner, offering only $210M, and the deal went to Shervin Milner at Menlo Park — beginning a decade of what Ben Horowitz calls 'torture.'
