Zorro Ranch wasn't a sex venue — it was a listening post positioned near Los Alamos and Sandia National Laboratories, where Cold War scientists were being defunded and made vulnerable. One Brattle Square in Cambridge served the same function for the Harvard math and science departments. Epstein's first Harvard math contact, Benedict Gross, was an expert in elliptic curves — the math behind Bitcoin and public-key cryptography.
