Garmin Circa 24-Hour Impressions vs. Fitbit Air

At 1:34:45 · chapter starts 1:33:00

Andrew delivers his rapid-fire 24-hour impressions of the Garmin Circa screenless fitness tracker. The good: auto sleep tracking was nearly perfect, logging sleep onset at 10:45 PM within two minutes of Andrew actually falling asleep, catching a 6-minute overnight wake period when he got up for his child, and even recording a 15-minute post-dinner nap. The bad: the alarm dismissal UX is confusing — pressing the button snoozes rather than stops it, and there's no obvious indicator — leading to Andrew accidentally running a 60-minute active workout session during his commute. The size is the biggest issue: the puck is so wide it overhangs both sides of Andrew's wrist. DC Rainmaker's comparative review found the Circa's infrequent heart-rate sampling outside active activities means missed workout auto-detection can't be retroactively corrected, unlike the Fitbit Air or Whoop. At approximately twice the Fitbit Air's price, the Circa loses on nearly every dimension. The group agrees that mixing the Fitbit Air's form factor, the Garmin's bands, and the Whoop's data quality would be their ideal wearable.

Andrew wore the Garmin Circa for 24 hours and was impressed by its pinpoint sleep tracking — it caught a 6-minute overnight wake-up and auto-logged a post-dinner nap. But the form factor is too wide, the app is confusing, and at twice the price, the Fitbit Air wins.
