Klein rejects the deregulation-versus-regulation framing on AI entirely: he wants much more AI regulation in some areas and much less friction in others. His central concern is power concentration — he has covered Demis Hassabis, Sam Altman, and Dario Amodei and does not want any of them holding unaccountable power. He notes the gap between OpenAI's stated desire for regulation and Greg Brockman's super PAC funding campaigns against AI regulation candidates.
