Every decision you have ever made was a bet. You couldn't know the outcome, only the probability distribution — and even that distribution is a guess, because you're not omniscient. The two failure modes: pretending you know more than you do (overconfidence) or giving up on analysis entirely (gut-only winging). Both are equally bad. The solution is landing in the middle: acknowledging uncertainty while still making your best explicit forecast.
