The coming-out moment arrives not as a planned conversation but as an eruption. Briel leaves church early, her mother whispers in her ear to pray about it, and something breaks. If you want a relationship with me after I move out, that's your choice. Also: you're not God. You don't get to damn me anywhere. Sign off: 'Live, laugh, love you.' Her mother comes home sobbing.
